Tragic Loss of Young Stepan in Philadelphia
Stepan Shevchuk was a hardworking and cheerful 26-year-old Ukrainian who tragically lost his life in a construction accident in the center of Philadelphia. While working on a hospital parking structure, a heavy slab fell, ending his life far too soon and unexpectedly. Stepan came to America 11 years ago with his mother from Ternopil, Ukraine, seeking a better future. He was known for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and his joyful spirit. His family and close friends were not prepared for such a sudden and heartbreaking loss.
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward covering Stepan's funeral expenses, ensuring he receives a dignified farewell. Additionally, the support will help his girlfriend manage rent and living costs for the first few months, allowing her to pay her bills and find some stability during this incredibly difficult time. With Stepan gone, she is left without any financial means to support herself, making your help all the more vital.
In this hard time, when we as Ukrainians must stand united and help one another—especially when tragedy strikes a family—we can show compassion and love by offering financial support. Your help will make a real difference for Stepan's loved ones as they face this painful journey. Any contribution, no matter the size, will be deeply appreciated and will help them find hope and strength to move forward.
I am a close friend of Nastassia’s parents, Aliaksandr and Oksana Sharanhovich, and I am helping them set up this fundraiser to cover funeral expenses. It will also provide support for Nastassia (Stepan’s girlfriend), who lived with him over the past year, helping her with rent, utilities, and other expenses during the first couple of months.
