Wednesday, November 12th, changed everything.
John Jackson, 23, suffered a life-threatening accident that left approximately 58% of his body covered in second- and third-degree burns, including areas of full-thickness circumferential burns.
It’s the kind of news that stops you in your tracks — the kind that makes you pray harder than you ever have.
John was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for emergency care and stabilization before being airlifted to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at the Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He is now under the care of one of the nation’s leading burn teams. Since arriving, he has already undergone four major surgeries, and due to the severity and unpredictability of his injuries, doctors have no way to know how many more he will need in these first critical weeks.
His care team has prepared his mom and sister that he will likely remain at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, GA for a minimum of 2–3 months as he battles all the challenges associated with such an extensive burn. He is fighting hour by hour to remain stable.
This journey will not be quick or simple. It will be a true roller coaster, with highs and lows that can change in an instant.
Despite the uncertainties, we know the truth: John is strong.
His resilience, his determination, and the quiet toughness that has always been part of him are carrying him through each new challenge.
Just the meaning of his name speaks even louder in moments like this: “God is gracious.”
Even now, that grace is showing itself — in his survival, in the hands caring for him, in the moments of progress that come right when they are needed, and in the God-given strength within him.
This fundraiser was created for John, to support him through the long, unpredictable, and grueling road ahead. When John becomes more alert and enters recovery, he deserves to focus solely on healing. Nothing else. Just strength, progress, and the road ahead.
Above all, we ask for continued prayers:
Prayers for strength
Prayers for comfort
Prayers for protection
Prayers for progress and healing
Prayers for better days ahead
Every share opens the door for more people to pray, more people to support, and more people to surround John and his family with steadiness and strength on this journey.
Thank you to everyone who donates, shares, prays, or holds John in their thoughts. Your support means more than words can express — and it wraps him in the grace, protection, and love he needs now more than ever.
