Stop MS'ing with Caryn

Donation protected
Back in November, my younger sister Caryn was taken to Silver Cross Hospital with stroke like symptoms that left her with numbness in parts of her body and slightly slurred speech. Upon leaving the hospital and following up with her general practitioner, Caryn received her new diagnosis that she had Multiple Sclerosis, in addition to her previous diagnosis of POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). At that time they found two lesions on her brain. Throughout the holidays, our family spent it with Caryn between 4 hospitals and going from specialist to specialist due to extreme progression of her symptoms. Caryn now has 9 lesions on her brain and spine. Since the new year began, she has been admitted into the University of Chicago Hospital and then the the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. With her symptoms worsening and her immune system leading to virus after virus, her neurologist is exploring other additional diagnoses in addition to the MS and POTS. With more medication and more testing on the horizon, the family is in the process of getting Caryn to the Mayo Clinic along with referral from her neurologist. Six years Caryn received diagnosis of POTS after years of misdiagnosis. Caryn was stabilized with her POTS significantly and was able to work full time at a dealership and contract work for hair and make up. Caryn has a good handle on her symptoms with the support of her service dog Goose and seemed to be on a track of manageable health. We are asking for help for the expenses to follow up with Mayo Clinic and to assist with her comfort. She is currently limited to no income due to inability to work consistently. These costs will include medical bills, copays, Mayo Clinic related expenses (hotel if needed), future equipment to assist Caryn's new way of living, and any other expenses to help keep her afloat with her other bills while she goes through recovery and until she is able to return to working full time again. I also want to thank everyone who has previously supported Caryn. She is touched and grateful for everyone who wants to see her get better. Thank you.
