Stephen "Steveo" Gonzales and his family were in a car accident on July 10th as they were heading home from church. As a result of a severe driver-side collision which has totaled their car, Steveo and their daughter Adah have both sustained multiple fractures and will require additional medical care for some time. Tarah, his wife, had pain immediately following the accident and Judah, their son, has been monitored for a possible concussion.
Steveo and Tarah have had a huge influence on the spiritual well-being of many members of this community, with an extensive focus on youth outreach. They attended and worked for many years at Parkway church here in Victoria toward a shared vision for youth and other Christ-centered ministries. They continue to spend countless hours preparing for and ministering to young people through youth meetings and functions they coordinate, such as One Retreat, student camp, and LifePointe Students meetings to name a few. One Retreat, a sort of local mission with the intent of showing the love of Christ,
has made a major impact on young people in this community for several years.
In the beginning of this year, Steveo & Tarah joined LifePointe Fellowship as youth pastors and media technicians. Then in March, LifePointe's Senior Pastor Leslie Cole was admitted to the hospital and later transferred to Houston, where he remained for months after a heart transplant. During this time, Steveo accepted additional responsibilities and has preached often in Leslie's place. Steveo and Tarah had been preparing for youth camp to be held near the end of July.
After the accident and until today, Tarah and Steveo have been in different cities. Tarah traveled with Adah Sunday afternoon to San Antonio where Adah had to have leg surgery for her complex leg fracture.
As a result of his injuries, Steveo will be unable to walk for a minimum of 3 weeks and Tarah will be focusing primarily on caring for Adah, while she is on bed rest and wheel-chair bound. There are not only serious physical injuries, but they each face the memories and emotional toll from this kind of wreck.
Despite having insurance, there will still be considerable out of pocket costs for them. With all they have been through and what they still face, they need our prayers for peace and total reassurance that God is in control.
Though the family has not asked for anything, we are asking for any help you can provide to this incredible family. We would love to bless them in any and every way we can. Financial assitance is especially important due to their inability to work for an undetermined amount of time, the amount of medical care they will need, and other expenses that are accruing.
With your support and prayers, the Gonzales family will be able to get back on their feet and back into their routine as a family and as pastors much easier. God bless you for taking the time to read this and for remembering the Gonzales family in your prayers!
Gratefully,
William & Gennifer McFarland
