Help Support Steve Jerome fight his brain tumor
Donation protected
On Christmas Eve my family and I decided to go check on my Dad at his house, after we had not heard from him for several days. In the few weeks leading up to this, my brother and I had noticed some concerning behaviour. Steve was definitely not himself.
After 10 or 15 minutes of talking with my Dad on Christmas Eve, we recognized something was very wrong. We called an ambulance, the paramedics assessed him and took my dad to the Trail Hospital. He was admitted. On Christmas Day he had a CT Scan and we learned he had a very large mass on the front centre of his brain. By boxing day evening he had been transferred to Kelowna General Hospital to be assessed by a neurology team. He has since had a MRI and on Monday January 4th my dad will undergo an open biopsy and partial tumor removal. Unfortunately because of where this tumor sits, the surgeon cannot access and remove all of the tumor. After a 4-6 week recovery from this surgery he should be able to begin radiation and/or chemo on the remaining tumor cells.
Getting the news my dad has a large aggressive brain tumor is never an easy thing to process, even more so on Christmas Day. Knowing my Dad is dealing with this medical crisis alone without being able to have family by his side (because of Covid) makes it so much harder :(
Steve will have a long road of recovery and treatment ahead of him. He will not have the ability to work to continue to support himself. He will have many medical expenses and travel over the next several months. I want to relieve my dad of any financial worry so that he can focus on the fight he has ahead of him.
Anyone that knows my Dad Steve, knows that he would be the first to step up to help a friend or family member in need. However my dad is a very humble man who would never ask for help when he needs it the most. My family and I want to thank anyone who supports us and Steve during this difficult time.
