Sterilise Our Strays (SOS) is a registered non-profit organisation operating in the Algarve, Portugal with the purpose of:

sterilising cats and dogs belonging to the streets or to low income families who cannot afford the cost of sterilisation,
rehoming stray animals through a volunteer-based fostering program,
raising awareness about the plight of stray animals in the Algarve.

In their most recent spayathlon event, SOS has sterilised 188 cats and 70 dogs in two weeks alone. Furthermore, this year they managed to rescue and rehome 43 cats and 63 dogs. This year alone SOS has sterilised over 1300 animals.

With the extremely high number of strays and abandoned animals in Portugal, this work is paramount to reducing the number of animals being born in the streets.

SOS relies entirely on donations to continue their valuable work. Unfortunately, their major sponsor has withdrawn and the organisation now faces imminent closure unless new funding is secured.

SOS and all the animals that need their help are in urgent need of financial assistance.
