Remembering Stephen Alan Whitmire
Stephen Alan Whitmire passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho. Born in Caldwell on November 5, 1956, Steve was the beloved youngest child of Leon and Cecilia Whitmire, and one of four siblings.
Family and Connections
Steve touched many lives but held his family closest to his heart. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecilia, in 2010 and his brother Mike in 2019. He is survived by his cherished children: his son Kyle Whitmire (Shannon) and grandson Gavin, and his daughter Cherelle Anselmo (Mike) and grandchildren Ethen, Kaylor, Dayton, Brody, and Maverick. Steve’s love extended to his sisters Sheryl Hoyt (Rich) and Linda Spearman, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the Treasure Valley.
Uncle, Mentor, and Adventurer
Steve was much more than a father and brother—he was an uncle who created lifelong memories with his nieces and nephews. Many times, he would gather the younger ones and take them out for hunting and fishing adventures. Those trips became formative experiences, filled with laughter, learning, and love, and are remembered fondly by the youngsters who shared those days with Uncle Steve.
Local Roots and Career
Stephen’s journey began in Nampa’s elementary schools and led to graduation from Middleton in 1974. He became skilled in many construction trades, with a special knack for roofing.
Legacy
Steve’s legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and the nieces and nephews who looked up to him. His warmth, guidance, and spirit of adventure will be felt in the family’s stories for generations.
