Hello all. As most of you may already know, my best friend Steph is currently battling some health issues. Now no one ever really plans for this whether it's mentally, physically, or financially and that’s why I want to help her out in any way I can. In sickness and in health.
A lot of you have been keeping up with what’s going on but I'm going to do a small, well maybe not so small, recap for those who don't know her story.
About two weeks ago, Steph, friends, and myself were vacationing in Colorado, high in the Rockies. Now if you've never been exposed to high altitude before, it can be a little shocker to the body resulting in shortness of breath, headaches, nausea, vomiting, upset tum, and many other unpleasant feelings. Thinking altitude sickness was the main cause of her feeling under the weather, our last night on vacation ended up being a bit rocky (and not the Rocky Mountains), to say the least. To sum it all up, some crazy body reactions led her to the hospital and it was NOT altitude sickness. After an ambulance ride, multiple blood transfusions, loads of fluids, GI scopes, defective little camera pill, and never ending pricks to her arms/hands, the cause of all these unfortunate events were never really pinpointed. Four days later after a very long unplanned stay in Colorado, she was sent on her merry way back to Kansas and feeling really good! Fast forward to being home for only a couple days and she found herself back in the hospital. Two days in LMH, more blood being pumped into her body, fluid, another GI scope and we're getting somewhere. A 2cm ulcer was found deep in her innards. The little bastard was cauterized and Stephanie Tosh is FINALLY on the road to recovery. Now lets fast forward to 1.5 days of being back home and on her feet, possibly the scariest thing happened. Her boyfriend Joe and her (side note: I've never met Joe but we have been communicating during these past two weeks and what a great guy he is) were out to eat at one of her favorite restaurants and what I believe to be the story is that Steph fainted and woke up in a pool of her own blood spilling from her mouth and nose, freaking scary. She was rushed to LMH once again via ambulance where yet another two units (maybe even more) of blood being pumped into that strong body of hers and GI scope round three showed that the ulcer was wide open and bleeding out. That same little bastard is now being clamped and praying and hoping this is the last round of these seemingly never ending series of events.
Everyone has been so supportive and loving thus far. Steph is truly an incredible human being and I know she would be right by my side if it were me going through all of this. Any donations, prayers, thoughts, good vibes are truly appreciated! Thank you all!
