My mom, Fonda Schwartz, is literally the best human I know.
She retired early to take care of my sister and my niece. That was her joy. That was her purpose. She also volunteered in the NICU, holding babies whose parents couldn’t always be there—because taking care of others is simply who she is. (I lived in an incubator for two months, so caring for preemies is a cause dear to her heart)
Then cancer came in and flipped everything upside down.
On New Year’s Day (after being in the hospital since Christmas), my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer/adenocarcinoma. Overnight, the strongest, most selfless person in our family became the one who needs help.
My sister is now caring for my mom full-time while also raising a toddler. She’s trying to be everything at once—daughter, caregiver, mother—while watching the woman who has always supported her grow weaker. Cancer didn’t just change my mom’s life; it completely changed my sister’s world overnight. It’s too much for one family to carry alone. I have always done my best to help & support them - but it’s just not enough.
Donations will help cover medical bills, treatments, medications, transportation to appointments, and basic living expenses while my mom & sister cannot work. And, heartbreakingly, they will also help us prepare for end-of-life and funeral expenses —so my mom can be cared for with comfort, dignity, and peace.
If you’re able to donate or share, we are deeply grateful. Thank you for helping support Fonda—a loving mother, sister, devoted grandmother, and truly extraordinary woman.
With love,
Brittani
