With family and friends by her side and an unwavering faith in God, Carolyn found the strength to fight and overcome Ovarian Cancer in 2019! She is a bright light and her testimony has been a source of inspiration and encouragement to many.

In February of this year, Carolyn found herself faced with new medical challenges. Little has been shared until now as details were not fully known. After 7 months of testing and countless prayers her team of doctors in AR, MO, TX, and GA have aligned on a plan to treat a mass and lymphedema which has resulted in swelling, restricted motion, and 40 pounds of fluid build up.

Carolyn will be starting a new treatment plan that will combine smaller, more frequent doses of chemotherapy with an increase of mistletoe therapy. This integrative approach has been shown to be highly effective in fighting cancer in research done at Johns Hopkins University Research Center.

While insurance has covered many of the costs so far (e.g., doctors appointments, tests, medication, compression garments, and a lymph drainage pump), the medical copays, travel expenses, innumerable essential health items, and radiation cancer treatments have led to an increase in debt while they had previously been debt free.

While Carolyn has been able to continue teaching up to this point her mobility and daily comfort has been significantly limited. She is planning to continue teaching as she enjoys working with her excellent students. It is great therapy!

Both Scott & Carolyn are in great need of help at this time. Chemotherapy starts October 17th followed by travel to Georgia for high intense Mistletoe Therapy and much more that is not covered by insurance.

Scott and Carolyn have dedicated their lives to investing in and helping others through missions, pastoring, and ministry. Family, friends, and students will all attest to their servant leadership and heart for others. They have given so much to so many and now we have an opportunity to join together and stand with them.

Let’s show Scott, Carolyn, Serena, Marianna, Will, Wyatt, Charlotte, and Dottie that they do not have to go down this path alone. Please help us remove financial barriers so Scott and Carolyn can focus on her recovery and time together as a family. Every contribution no matter the size can have a significant impact as we join together collectively.

If you are unable to give financially at this time there are other ways you can help with practical day to day needs such as preparing ‘doctor-approved simple basic meals’ for the family, running errands, assisting at the music school, home, etc. Most importantly though please continue to lift the family up in prayer.

While their hearts and prayers are filled with much compassion toward others who have walked through difficult times it is extremely important for us not to share fear or worry or sad stories about anyone who has walked through cancer. They need to be encouraged with positive words, victorious healing testimonies, and faith-filled scriptures.

They are not fearful or worried and their faith is strong. God continues to be their strength, along with those who have walked closely. It’s vital that we do not add anxiety, worry, fear, health opinion disagreements, or discouragement to their already daily challenged walk of faith.
