Support Mireya's Life-saving Stage 4 Lung Cancer Treatment

For nearly 24 years, Doña Mire (Mireya Monterroso), has managed to beat not one, but several cancer diagnoses. In 1999 she began her first battle with endometrial cancer, she underwent a hysterectomy followed by a series of chemotherapies. After four years cancer-free, she began her second battle. In 2004 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo a quadrantectomy and chemotherapy again.

Our warrior never gave up; with faith and resilience, she defeated cancer twice.

In November 2022, Doña Mire suddenly collapsed and fainted. Due to her history, she went for testing, and our fears materialized: 19 years later, cancer returned for the third time, this time in her lungs. A few weeks ago, in Honduras, she underwent a procedure with the aim of extracting part of the nodule and doing a biopsy. Unfortunately, the doctors were unsuccessful due to the lack of technology in our country, and instead, they exacerbated things by causing a hemorrhage.

Doña Mire does not have international health insurance. Nonetheless, her family has done the impossible to bring her to Miami, USA for adequate care. With some help from angels along the way, they managed to do her initial surgery. The biopsy returned a result of adenocarcinoma located in the lungs (Stage 4: metastatic lung cancer). After three nights in intensive care, she remains hospitalized awaiting results that will indicate the type of treatment that she requires to get another chance at life.

Those who know our beloved Mireya know that she is a resilient, noble, loving woman, with a gift of helping those in need. Doña Mire lights up every room she enters with her smile and a light she irradiates from within. She is a woman of faith above all. Throughout her journey she has exemplified what relentless willpower and faith can bring about: positive outcomes against all odds.

While world-class, healthcare in the U.S. is prohibitively expensive if you’re uninsured. This is only the beginning, our Mireya must start treatment as soon as possible to have a fighting chance. Apoya el tratamiento contra el cáncer de pulmón de Doña Mire

Por casi 24 años, Doña Mire (Mireya Monterroso), ha sobrevivido lo que pocos logran contar: no uno, sino varios diagnósticos de cáncer. En 1999 comenzó su primera batalla con cáncer de matriz, se sometió a una histerectomía seguida de una serie de quimioterapias. Tras cuatro años libre de cáncer, comenzó su segunda batalla. En 2004 fue nuevamente diagnosticada con cáncer, esta vez en la mama izquierda teniendo que realizarse una cuadrantectomía y nuevamente la quimioterapia. Nuestra guerrera, con su fe, esfuerzo, y amor por la vida ha vencido el cáncer dos veces ya.

En noviembre del 2022, Doña Mire tuvo un colapso con pérdida de conciencia y debido a sus antecedentes, realizaron una serie de estudios clínicos dando como resultado lo que tanto temíamos: 19 años después, el cáncer volvió por tercera ocasión, esta vez en sus pulmones. Hace unas semanas, en Honduras, se sometió a un procedimiento con el propósito de extraer parte del nódulo y realizar una biopsia para determinar el tipo de cáncer, sin embargo, los doctores no lo lograron debido a la carencia de tecnología y lamentablemente le ocasionaron una hemorragia.

Doña Mire no cuenta con seguro médico internacional, pero su familia la llevo a Miami, EEUU. Con la ayuda de ángeles que les puso en su camino lograron que le realizaran la cirugía. La biopsia arrojó un resultado de adenocarcinoma alojado únicamente en los pulmones (cáncer de pulmón con metástasis: etapa 4). Después de tres noches en cuidados intensivos, continúa hospitalizada a la espera de resultados que indicarán el tipo de tratamiento que deberá realizarse para ganar esta nueva batalla.

Quienes conocen a nuestra amada Mireya saben que es una mujer resiliente, noble, amorosa, con don de ayudar al necesitado y siempre está alumbrando con su brillo y sonrisa donde sea que se encuentre, y sobre todo, es una mujer de fe. Desde 1999, nos ha enseñado lo que es luchar y vencer, y hoy nos los sigue demostrando con su deseo de vivir.

Solicitamos su ayuda para que Doña Mireya de la mano de Dios y con el gran apoyo de su familia, puedan costear los gastos que se han generado y los que vendrán, ya que este es solo el comienzo, deben iniciar lo antes posible los tratamientos que son increíblemente costosos.
