First Place at Regionals!  First Place at States!!  NOW, seven students from St John the Evangelist School are going onto The Odyssey of the Mind WORLD Finals!!!

2017 Odyssey of the Mind WORLD Finals!!

Odyssey of the Mind (OotM) is an international educational program whose mission is to provide creative problem-solving opportunities for students. Millions of kids across the U.S. and more than 20 other countries have been working hard all year. St. John the Evangelist students - Isaac Garcia (5th grade), Rhea Malmquist (5th grade), Eliot Garcia (3rd grade), Drake Malmquist (3rd grade), Ariana Isaacs (1st grade), Alaina Lee (1st grade), and Xitlali Urrea (1st grade) - will be among them!! They have been devoted to solving their problem “Catch Us if You Can” since January.  These dedicated students have met 2-3 days a week after school and some weekends to create (and re-create), expand their minds, and learn their true potential.  In addition, they've worked through lunch and free time every Friday to practice the spontaneous portion of the program.  They are thrilled for the opportunity to compete at the World Finals.  When asked if they want to go to Worlds to 'have fun' or 'win', they said 'WIN'!  No doubt they have fun too!! 

But we need your help to get there!!  This honor comes with large expenses of traveling, lodging, fees to compete, and more (uniform shirts, silly head noodles, pin trading - oh my).  Please help these kids proudly represent their school, community, and New York State!  On behalf of Isaac, Rhea, Eliot, Drake, Ariana, Alaina, and Xitlali - THANK YOU for your support!!
