Support for Mr. Sammy-former St. Jago Art teacher
Donation protected
Mr. Rupert Salmon was an Art teacher at St Jago High School in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Some might remember that he started the St. Jago Craft Club. He was the catalyst for many becoming talented professionals in their own right. He migrated to the United States as the beneficiary of a scholarship many years ago.
Mr. Sammy escaped a fire that destroyed his home and workshop and his livelihood on January 13, 2023. He literally, escaped only partially dressed into the cold Phildephia winter. He’s currently living in a temporary shelter, his Red Cross allotment completed, and with your help, we hope we can restore his circumstances to some level of dignity. He needs permanent housing, clothes, food, tools and raw materials. Some things are irreplaceable.
"Everything is gone, no money, no clothes, no tools, art paint brushes, pencils, canvas, camera....."
Despite all, Mr. Sammy, like a true artist still salutes all with "Warm and Easy" an artistic reflection of the love of people and art which has been his life's work.
