St Peter's Hospital NICU
Donation protected
This is our daughter, Isobel Lilly Higgins on Sunday 28th September 2014 when she was just one day old.
Isobel contracted Group B Strep Meningitis and Septecemia during her birth and quickly became very ill. During her first few days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Peter's Hospital, we were told in no uncertain terms that she was fighting for her life and her outcome was unknown.
It is without doubt that the experience, skills and quick decisions taken by those caring for her saved her life and allowed her to begin her road to recovery. We are pleased to confirm that Isobel continues to reach developmental milestones and is a seemingly healthy baby.
This campaign isn't really about Isobel- more so about the support and care that was provided to her by NICU at St Peter's. To show our gratitude for what they did for Isobel, we wanted to donate something to the unit and have asked if there is anything that we could give.
A lot of the babies in NICU are premature or are too poorly to breastfeed. This means that their mothers have to use breast pumps to produce milk which is then fed to their baby through a feeding tube. Breast pumps in the unit are in high demand and the staff have therefore suggested that we donate a new breastpump. At £1,860 these units are not cheap and we therefore need your help to achieve our goal.

We put together a clip to show Isobel's progress thanks to her care and treatment in the unit:

We have a few ideas up our sleeves for fundraising including tombolas, cake sales and some endurance events that both Tom and Hannah will be taking part in.
Tom will be competing in the Race to the Stones Ultra Marathon (100km non stop) on Saturday 11 July whilst the evening before, Friday 10 July, Hannah will take on her own challenge- the Phoneix Aquathlon, consisting of a 500m swim and a 5km run.
More info on both of the events can be found at:

Thank you so much for your help!
Love,
Tom, Hannah, Phoebe and Isobel
