My name is Mr. Cork and I have been an early childhood educator in Baltimore City for the past eight years. I recently created a new organization called Sprocket.
Sprocket brings quality early childhood programs to neighborhoods throughout Baltimore. Are unique pop-up approach has us visiting different parks and green spaces on a weekly basis. Sprocket is focused on outreach education and strives to make high-quality programs accessible to all, especially our most vulnerable populations. In the Winter months, we will move the education indoors to local businesses and organizations. This pop-up style allows families to explore the city around them and venture into new neighborhoods. Additionally, we strive to create community and a network of parents and caregivers working together to raise their children.
We engage families and caregivers through social media and a text messaging service. Using this 21st-century tool we can reach families in a new way. We can go beyond the education of the child and provide resources for families and caregivers. All our programs include developmental tips for parents and are designed to encourage parent/child interaction.
Our flagship program is the nationally celebrated and award-winning Mother Goose on the Loose. This program blends songs, books, nursery rhymes, developmental tips and fun altogether to create a fantastic storytime that's sure to create a life-long love of learning! For more information please visit www.mgol.net. As the organization grows we will partner with other organization to increase our programming. We will focus on early literacy, STEM, education through play, and school readiness.
In October Sprocket will apply for partnership with Fusion Partnerships. They will help Sprocket to become a fully realized non-profit organization. They will serve as our fiscal agent and help us secure grant funding. They also offer the opportunity to network with other like-minded organizations and area foundations.
The next six months will be critical to Sprockets success. We are seeking your help to ensure our mission of quality education for everyone. We are currently operating in five Baltimore area neighborhoods, offering a variety of times and locations. Your donation will help with supply costs, the salary of our staff, and general overhead as we start this new organization. Additionally, your support will allow us to expand into new neighborhoods and reach an even wider audience.
Sprocket aims to be a leader in early childhood education. We want to challenge the way we look at education and move the learning from the four walls of the classroom directly to where the families are. We appreciate your generous support.
