Help Restore Our Neighborhood

Our neighborhood has always been a place with so much potential, but lately it’s been struggling with neglect. Over time, thorny smilax vines, poison oak, and ivy took over the roadsides, and people started throwing trash from their cars which gets tangled up in the thorny and toxic vines making removal a nightmare in addition to being an eyesore and a hazard to local animals, be it pet or wildlife. I took it upon myself to start cleaning up, and after a lot of work, I’ve already removed much of the trash and brush and place it into piles along the roadside as you may have noticed. Unfortunately, in the process, I got a poison ivy rash from head to toe, which is why I can’t safely remove the brush piles myself. The brush piles can’t be burned because they’re full of poison ivy, which could cause serious respiratory problems for everyone nearby. I have not been able to get a response from the city of Martindale and Caldwell countys response was that it was not their responsibility. The condition of the entrance road will only continue to worsen unless we take action to clean up before it gets beyond our control. If every house only donated a small amount we could make huge improvements and get this place back to looking like somewhere we can be proud to live.
That’s why I’m reaching out for help. The funds raised will go directly toward hiring a professional brush removal company to safely haul away the brush and trash piles. If we’re able to raise a little extra, we’ll use it to replace the neighborhood entrance sign, which is crumbling due to termite damage and will soon need to be taken down. I would like to get a professional sign from a local sign builder made to mark the entrance of our neighborhood. The fundraiser amount is just a complete guess at this point, as I haven’t received a quote yet for the actual removal or sign. Please know that every dollar raised will be used only for this beautification project, and I will post receipts for every expense so you can see exactly how your contributions are spent.
Many neighbors have stopped to thank me and ask how they can get involved. This fundraiser is a way for all of us to do our part, take back our neighborhood, and make it a place we can be proud to call home. Your support—no matter the amount—will make a real difference. Thank you for helping us bring new life to our community!
As a side note, if you know who is throwing out the white claw white cans and Miller lite tall boys I pick up DAILY, please remind them that our neighborhood is not their trash can and to please stop throwing the cans on the side of our road. And if you place a yard sale sign at the entrance, dont forget to stop and retrieve it once the yard sale is over otherwise it just becomes more litter in our environment. Keeping our neighborhood clean is a group effort and we all must do our part if we want a place we can be proud of to call home. Thanks so much!!

I am open to suggestions for local brush removal and sign makers, so feel free to let me know your thoughts/ideas for beautification of our neighborhood or how you think the donations should be spent after the brush is hauled off. I want everyone to know their opinion matters and im not doing this to try and start an hoa or anything remotely like that. I just feel like something had to be done and I couldn't sit around and wait for someone else to do something any longer. Again, thank you so much in advance for even taking the time to read this and let's clean this place up. :)
