Spillers' Final Adoption Fees

Donation protected
It was nearly a year ago that we reached out to you as family and friends to inform you that we were expecting through adoption; as we go back through the emails it was less than a week after we sent that initial email that we were contacted by our agency and told that there was an expectant mother who our agency wanted to show our profile. WOW! God has been so good to us throughout this process and we want to thank each of you for your prayers, support, gifts and love.

Peyton officially became a Spillers on Good Friday, April 3, 2015. When it was all said and done it took us less than 6 months from the moment we submitted all of our paperwork, home studies, visits, etc. to the time Peyton was in our arms. After experiencing many challenges to start our family, we could have never imaged that creating our family would take less time than a nine month pregnancy ☺especially when we were told that most families wait anywhere from 1-2 years before being matched with an expectant parent.

The past 10 months with Peyton has been the most rewarding. We’re enjoying being parents and our little guy brings us so much joy on a daily basis. Attached are a few photo collages to show you a little insight into what life is like with Peyton or Mr. P as we call him.

When we started this process we anticipated having more time to raise all the necessary funds and seek adoption grants. Fortunately we were matched very quickly but, unfortunately this did not give us time to raise the funds for the final adoption fee.

As La’Leatha works in the nonprofit field, she knows first-hand that social services are not free. For us the total cost was about $25,000. This included the application, home study, pre-placement and final adoption fees which includes counseling and support for our family and Peyton’s birth mom, adoption education, counseling, training, family assessment, post placement support, legal documentation, and finalization.

Of that $25,000 we have a remaining balance of $8,000 that must be paid by the end of this year. We have applied for 3 adoption grants and have been declined as there is such a great need.

We’d like to ask you to contribute to our remaining balance a gift of $100, or maybe you could send $200 or even $300. You have responded generously in the past and we know you will do what you can for this current need. We’re seeking 80 individuals to contribute $100 each.

When the remaining balance is paid, we plan to start a small fund to support other families in need to help them start their families as cost is the #1 barrier as to why many don’t consider adoption.

Thank you in advance. Adoption is love.
