Pay It Forward - for Spencer

Tragety hits many people. Sometimes it hits close to home. This is my son Spencer. He has recently been through not one, not two, but three tragedies all together! He really needs the help and support of family and friends. 

Here's the backstory.

Spencer's wife recently decided that they should no longer be married, and left him. She moved about an hour away taking their daughter with her. Being a breasfed baby, Spencer only gets to see Ember for a few hours here and there on the weeends. It's been very difficult on him. He was used to coming home every day and spending a lot of time with his family & co-sleeping with the baby at night.
About a month later, trying to move on from the difficulty of divorce, Spencer meets a young lady who he connects instantly with. He starts spending time with her and quickly gets attached. As with all new relationships, people have strong feelings and hopes and dreams of a future. But this is not their story. After just a few short weeks, they were spending time together at his house, she was very distraught about things going on in her life.  Spencer was outside looking at her car that was just scratched. As he passed the threshold into the house he heard a gunshot. She had decided she could no longer handle the pressures of life, and it was time to leave this world. She had found his gun, and ended her life. Spencer rushed to help her but it was too late and she passed away in his arms. 

Going through this kind of trauma creates a huge void filled with grief and sorrow and pain. He has been surrounded by family but there is nothing that will fix this type of pain and trauma. Time only heals.
He could not return to the house, and needed to move out. We have been trying to help him get a few things from his house. Sunday was the last day we went to take care of a few things.

Monday 7/13, Spencer got a text from a neighbor that his back gate was open. He decided he needed to check on his place, and with a couple of friends, went by the house. When they arrived, they went through the open back gate to discover the house had been robbed. Everything but some large heavy items and some clothing had been taken. Including his motorcycle, his tv's his kitchen items, food, everything from his bathroom, contact lenses, ipad, passport, personal files.... EVERYTHING. It was devastating. There was nothing of value left. The police came, neighbors talked, and they actually found the criminals right there in the neighborhood, arrested them. They recoverd his mocorcycle and a few small item that they were carrying with them. The night before, neighbors stood by and watched the crime in action and never called the police. We hope to recover more items but the chances are small. 

Spencer desperately needs a shining bright star in his life, help, love and support. He needs to know his life matters, that he matters and that it's all going to be okay at some point. He is starting all over, from scratch, with nothing. He will be getting professional counseling and hopefully get back on his feet mentally, although, we all know this will take time. 

In the meantime, let's pay it forward and help him get back on his feet, replace the items that were stolen, replace lost income, fix his car that needs work... Anything is better than nothing.
