Sora's Big MFin' MRI Bill

Get a job, Sora.
You aren't pulling your weight around here.
Have you seen these recent medical bills?

What's that? You're only 5 years old?
And a dog? A 5 year old dog! Why, you're just a pup!
And you have a degenerative spine disease?

That's ruff.

Sorry. I couldn't help myself.

But I do wish there was something I could do to help you.

Oh, there is? Of the monetary variety?
Shit, you're really going to call me out like that?

Are you SURE you need my help?
Can't your mom handle your medical expenses?

Oh, she majored in Sociology. Undergrad only. I see. You must be living right on the poverty line.

What about your dad? Fucking deadbeat, eh? Adopted a cat and forgot all about you? I guess that explains why your last name is Snow. (How about that season 5 finale? I still can't believe they killed Sansa. And Zombie Joffrey? Get. Outta. Here. Unbelievable!)

I hope you told your dad what a dick he is. You WHAT? You shit on him once? Literally? No kidding! You're pretty hardcore, little dude.

It would be a shame if you weren't able to get the medical care you need just because you picked the wrong parents.

What do you mean "they picked you"? That's not the least bit fair.

Here, take my wallet. Buy yourself a nice MRI. One o' them fancy ones that will help your veterinarian determine whether or not you're a candidate for spinal surgery. Wait, it costs $3,000? Just for the MRI? That's not even including surgery? Woah, buddy, it looks like you're going to need a lot more help than just mine.

Maybe if the nice people of the Interwebs were to all chip in a little somethin' somethin' and share your story on the Facebooks and Twitters, then we could find out what's going on with those lil degenerate spinal discs of yours. I mean, I know you aren't potato salad or anything, but you're pretty lovable. I think even strangers could love a face like that. In fact, I'm sure of it. The world would be a very sad place without your lil tail wagging in it.
Thank you for keeping Sora in your thoughts during this very scary time for him. You can see more photos of Sora on Instagram: #SoraSnow or by friending him on Facebook.

You can read about intervertebral disc disease in dogs here. Sora's problems began in the fall of 2012. His back legs were paralyzed for a month, but he was able to avoid spinal surgery with medical treatment. He has spent the last two+ years as a happy and healthy, fully-functional cuddle monster. However, he begin exhibiting spinal pain again this May after a seizure. After a month of unsuccessful steroid treatment, his conditioned worsened to stage III (partial paralysis resulting in staggering or uncoordinated movements) and he was taken to the Small Animal Emergency Clinic at the NC State Veterinary Hospital. In the 2 weeks since, he has shown a great deal of improvement while being restricted to his crate. He is scheduled for an MRI on July 17th to determine whether or not he is a candidate for spinal surgery. It is our hope that he will have healed enough to render the procedure unnecessary as it is expensive (estimated on the low end as another $3,000 in addition to the MRI bill) and not without risk.
