The family of 15-year-old Sophia Naismith, who was tragically struck and killed by a Lamborghini, are hoping to preserve her memory by creating a lasting gift for young sportspeople.

Commemorating Sophia’s love of sport, this could be in the form of scholarships, or equipment and infrastructure for Brighton High School where she was a popular student.

This page has been established by close friends of the family, with their permission, and the donations will go towards building a legacy that celebrates Sophia’s life and helps young people achieve their dreams.

Sophia's family released this tribute to their much-loved and talented daughter and sister following the incident that took her life in Glengowrie on 22 June:

"Nothing prepares you for times like this. Sophia was the centre of our universe. Our cherished first born. Best friend to her sisters. Adored by her grandparents. Admired by her Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Good friend to many. Loved by all.
"Everything has changed.
"She was an accomplished state volleyballer, gymnast, soccer player and a popular and gifted student.
"Our lives will never be the same again. 
"We want to thank our precious family and friends for their love and support in such a distressing time.
"We also want to thank the paramedics and police who came to Sophia’s aid.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Sophia’s friend Jordyn who was injured in the accident."

Sophia touched so many hearts and made friends with everyone through her kind, generous and fun-loving nature. She achieved so much in her short life and the ripples from this tragedy will continue to be felt forever.

Sophia’s family, friends and the community in which they play such a big part remain in mourning. The hope is that the legacy will help other young people shine as brightly as Sophia.
