Help Soph get Nimmo To New Zealand
Donation protected
Dear friends of Sophie,
As you will know, Sophie has been seriously ill with sepsis and in hospital in London since early February. Being the brave and determined woman we know, she is now making good progress towards recovery in the rehabilitation hospital.
Odd as it sounds, we’ve been very lucky and have the feeling that a good part of Soph’s will to fight her way back to life is that she is so very much loved by her friends and family. There’s a Chinese proverb that sums it up – ‘Being loved gives you strength, loving gives you courage’.
Sophie’s longer-term recovery will be more easily managed and enjoyed in New Zealand so, having lived in London for the last 18 years, she’s decided to go and spend some decent time ‘at home’. Her flat is being rented out, and the plan is to fly home towards the end of May.
All of which is great – but there’s a hitch in that Sophie has her two elderly collies, Riley and Nimmo, to care for as well. Riley is a very grand old lady at nearly 17 years and is too old to make the trip to New Zealand. Nimmo, however, is a mere chick of 14 years and he would love running around chasing rabbits at Kahu Vineyard in Martinborough, and telling the village dogs about his rescue adventures with Sophie in RAPID.
The challenge is that importing a dog from the UK to NZ costs GBP £5,000. Sophie doesn’t have that much money to hand any longer, neither do any of us individually. So, we’ve set up this crowd funding page to see if we can raise the money to bring Nimmo home to NZ for Sophie.
If you have been thinking you’d like to do something (on top of what so many of you have already done!) to help Sophie along – this is it. She has always loved her dogs, and everyone else’s as well. Having Nimmo with her for this next adventure will do a lot to lift her spirits.
Thank you!
P.s. If, however, we do not raise the £5000, all donations will go to RAPID.
