As many of you know 2016 was an unexpectedly rocky road for my family. Back in February, my father was having problems breathing. He was rushed to the hospital, put onto a ventilator and kept in a coma for nearly 6 weeks. Over course of next six months, he was moved to 5 different hospitals and eventually landed at Temple Heart and Lung Center on the campus of Temple University. His lungs were severely damaged and we were informed that he would need a lung transplant. Soon after his diagnosis, he was put through a series of tests to determine whether or not he was a strong enough candidate for such a surgery. Lucky for us he passed those tests, a lung became available and he was given a second chance at life.
Unfortunately, this unexpected gift (as wonderful as it is) comes with a tremendous financial burden, one that he just simply can not take on alone, especially considering the sudden unexpected loss of income and the high cost of some of the miraculous medication that he is now required to take.
I wish that I were able to wave a magic wand and make it all go away but sadly I don’t have such powers or resources.
Hospitals are interesting places, filled with brilliant and caring people but there comes a time when the reality kick in and everything goes back to business as usual. Now is that time.
I have been wanting to put together some sort of fundraiser to help my father with his medical expenses so he and my Mother can afford the bills that they have accrued and continue to afford the care that he still needs to live.
Any help that you can offer is greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for your love, help, and support.
