If you’ve ever met Sondra, I’m sure you've shared a laugh as you watched the world slow down and connected. Her sharp wit and wry smile lights up the spaces she enters.

In April, Sondra found a lump and followed up with a mammogram. Diagnostic imaging led to biopsies of both breasts and multiple lymph nodes. And then came the shocking and unexpected news: Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, breast cancer.

In late May, she had additional testing including a liver biopsy. Unfortunately, the results showed metastasis to the liver, and likely mets on the lungs and ovaries too. The cancer has spread beyond the breast tissue. The diagnosis was revised to Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. This means the cancer is not curable, tho treatment can slow growth and associated symptoms.

On behalf of Sondra, we want to help raise funds to support her through her recent breast cancer diagnosis.

Sondra is self-employed as a stagehand and landscaper - two very physical jobs. As she goes through treatments and recovery, she will be unable to work.

She started chemo in June and will have rounds every 3 weeks for 5 months. As an uninsured person, she is grateful for state/federal funding for her treatments, but not all tests and expenses are covered.

Sondra has a heart for helping and supporting others. When I was pregnant and struggling with nutrition, she fed me every Wednesday night. When I needed someone to hold my hand during a difficult medical procedure, she was there by my side, despite being a bit squeamish. I'm sure you have a story of your own. Sondra has impacted so many lives and now it is time for us to come together and support her.

Travel expenses to hospitals and treatment centers

Medications and supplements

Nutritionally dense foods to aid in healing

Adaptive devices to help her feel safe, comfortable, and capable

We set an initial goal of $5,000 to cover about 3 months of anticipated expenses. And we are nearly there! We want to give Sondra peace of mind financially so she can focus on treatment and healing. Understanding that treatement will last at least thru October, we are setting a new goal to ensure support through treatment.
