As-salamu alaykum everyone. Our brothers and sisters in Somalia need our help. There’s currently a drought going on in East Africa. The time to act is now. Please don't ignore them.
“(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of Allah, saying: ‘We feed you for the sake of Allah Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.” – Quran, 76:8-9
Those needy ones who are wholly wrapped up in the cause of Allah, and who are hindered from moving about the earth in search of their livelihood especially deserve help. He who is unaware of their circumstances supposes them to be wealthy because of their dignified bearing, but you will know them by their countenance, although they do not go about begging of people with importunity. And whatever wealth you will spend on helping them, Allah will know of it. (2:273)
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) declared that millions of people in East Africa face food shortages.
So what happened? Because of the after effects of the phenomenon El Niño/El Niña, the rainy season came late or not at all in some regions.
The effects of this are that many farmers lose crops and pastures for live stock are depleting fast. Food prices go up & livestock are dying.
Global warming seems to get worse. “Before 2004 we used to have a bad drought every 10 years, now it is every five,”- Abdul Aziz Hussein.
About 260.000 Somalis died during the last famine 5 years ago. We can’t afford to act too late. Please help our brothers and sisters of Islam and In Shaa Allah Allah will reward you.
Mind you that with droughts, people usually prepare for them in advance and can handle it. The severity of the drought is too much to bear.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has declared a state of disaster as Somalia struggles with a severe drought & food crisis.
What can we do? We can do the best we can to help our Ummah. Even as little as donating $1. If you can't donate. Spread the word and ask for others to help. In Shaa Allah Allah will reward you for every action you take to help the people who need it most.
Any little help is needed. Never be ashamed of how little you can help. The smallest intention you to help the people of Somalia can be so rewarding In Shaa Allah.
