On Saturday March 2, 2019, 14 year old Sohrab Popal was a backseat passenger involved in a very serious car accident in Oakville, Ontario. The car he was in crashed through a fence, careened across the highway and smashed into a concrete barrier head on. Sohrab's injuries were life threatening. If not for the quick actions of an off-duty Paramedic, Sohrab would not have survived this horrific accident.
If Sohrab was not wearing his seatbelt, he would have been ejected from the car, however, even with his life saving seatbelt, Sohrab sustained critical and life threatening injuries. The pressure of the seatbelts caused massive internal bleeding and ESP was rushed to emergency surgery at the McMaster Children’s hospital. The gifted surgeons at the McMaster Children’s hospital were able to stabilize his internal injuries, however, ESP remains in critical condition at the McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton.
To date, Sohrab has gone through multiple surgeries and will have many more in the coming days, weeks and months. Sohrab's journey back to good health will be measured in years, not weeks or months.
His mother and father remain by his side 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Their other children are being cared for by their grandparents. This entire family will be faced with hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills in the future.
All monies raised will go to support Sohrab's long road to recovery, through medical supports and round the clock care.
On behalf of Sohrab's family, they wish to extend their most sincerest and heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all donors. They are in the greatest time of need and are spending every waking moment with their son in his moment of need. We thank you all for you help and support.
