One of my closest friends Jessica has recently been Diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the young age of 30 and needs our help! This recent diagnosis comes with a future now filled with surgeries, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and more to be revealed. Even though she is working and has insurance, it only covers a portion of the costs and medical bills are already starting to build in the thousands and necessities for recovering will be needed. She will need to take time off work to deal with treatment and any support (big or small) with these costs would be greatly appreciated.

Over two years ago, I met Jessica in a Twelve Step meeting. She gave me a warm hug and her positive energy was contagious. Little did I know she would become my sober “Sister.”
Jessica is a bright light in the recovery community. She lives with all the values and traditions we are taught in recovery. Her passion for recovery has blossomed within her community of Young People where she has walked others through the steps and has shared her experience, strength, and hope, all over the country. She wants people to know they are worthy of recovery, and to seek discomfort because that brings growth. Her motto, “Courage over comfort; Faith over fear,” which embraces everything Jessica is. She also works in the recovery field. She is able to help people with her experience to see the light at the end of the tunnel with compassion. In her sobriety, she has been able to pay off all her debt and student loans and was recently awarded her Associates of the Arts Degree!
She is an OUTDOORS GURU! Whether it be hiking the country, camping, kayaking with her puppy Haileebug… She loves to see the world and collect heart shaped rocks wherever she goes. She wants to show everyone that you can have fun in recovery and always has a “hop in the car” attitude when she is heading to an adventure.
A month before Jessica’s two year sober celebration, we received devastating news: the lump she found was indeed Breast Cancer (DCIS and IDC, Er+/Her2+). It is rare for someone so young, 30, to have this diagnosis.
Jessica has been very positive since her diagnosis. She is carrying herself with strength and grace just as she has through her recovery. She holds “Courage over comfort; Faith over fear” closer to her heart more than ever. Jessica is the complete definition of #SoberCancerWarrior.
Support, big or small, would be great! Follow here for updates on her journey as we walk through this together!
