Hello everyone and thank you for considering donating to "Snug as a Bug: Blankets for Cuddles!". We use your donations to purchase supplies to make blankets to be donated to hospitals with NICU (neonatal infant care units) and still-born birth programs. Feel free to recommend or request a location, hospital or specific family and we would be happy to be of service.
ABOUT ME: My name is Cynthia Moon and as some of you know, I am a science middle school teacher, department chair, ASB advisor, leadership teacher, Glee and Drama club director, USA swim coach and an avid servant of the community. Needless to say, I keep busy helping kids in any way I can and enjoy every second of it! :-)
Recently my entire world stopped and was turned upside down.

MY INJURY: I have not been able to work with my students and swimmers because in March of 2015 I suffered a major traumatic brain injury that has left me unable to work because I have multiple daily seizures, tremendous pain in my head, neck and back, extreme dizziness and severe cognitive impairments to my memory and attention (i am kind of like a human Dorie).

While it has been difficult, i must say, I actually feel really lucky. Through modern day technology, like social media, I have been blessed to recieve constant support from friends and family all around the world, literally! From Hawaii, to Baghdad! Its incredible :-)

WHY BLANKETS?: This experience is very humbling. Having a seizure and totally depending on your mom, dad, boyfriend, sister to help you sit, breathe, walk, change your diaper, regain sensation, even swallow water without choking.
There is no room for ego. In this, I think of my Grandma T. She was the most humble woman I have ever known. She had very little, and yet, would give a complete stranger everything she had if needed. She taught me how to give with your heart, all of your heart, and without any expectations.
Grandma T, (pictured above with her oldest and youngest gradbabies :-) a grandaughter sandwich! Hehe) also used to make blankets. She would make blankets all the time and we would often make them together. So, early on in my injury, as the doctors were listing all the things I was no longer allowed to do, I thought I would make blankets. I'm limited in things I am allowed to do because I could potentially forget what i'm doing in the middle of it and well... thats dangerous... , but blankets!? Totally safe! I have made over 75 blankets now and paid for them out of my own pocket (its pretty pricey) and I donate them to hospitals with a NICU and/ or still born programs. We start the donations with a round of blankets to Loma Linda on behalf of the Robert Matthew Carroll-Stamp Shining Star fund, my boyfriend Matt Stamp's son. Robert passed when he was only 3 months old of a congenital heart defect. (Xoxo) Matt, had a son before Robert, he had Devin (pictured below...)

Devin is an INCREDlE KID! This spring he played baseballl and this summer hes doing all sorts of fun stuff... on top of it tho... he's having to cope with the side effects of what going on with me. Its definitely not easy on him. But our Devin is such an incredible and strong young man and we are all so so proud of him. I am so grateful for his patience and willingess to stay flexible with all this craziness. Dad and I love you bud, so so so much, more than words can say! We will get through this kiddo! It will be over soon and we will be back to awesome adventures once again xoxo :-*
While this may seem really small, making blankets has given me a chance to continue to be of service to others. When I am able to be of service to others, I am able to continue to focus on the positive. (Like all the awesome hikes my sister and I did before my injury!)

Please consider donating here. Even just $1. Everything helps! I will use the funds to purchase supplies to make blankets, clean them (i wash them in Dreft and seal them) and ship them. Or if you would like you can email me and drop off or send fleece your self to me (a front and back pattern in yard cuts please) or....
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR OWN BLANKET i would be happy to include your blanket in our next donation drop off, just email me :-)
Thanks for reading this far and for allowing me to be of service!
Hugs,
Cynthia Moon
