Small town coal

My name is Tully, I’m a founding member of Geophytes and a long-term resident of the upper Hunter Valley. This is a project very close to my heart and home. This is a story about people.
Currently we are in the pre-production stages on our short documentary about small towns and coal mining. We aim to depoliticise mining towns, by investigating how important urgency is within each community in responding to a slow inevitable change as the mining industry shifts to renewables.
Our work has taken us from the small town of Muswellbrook to Newcastle & finally, China. We hope to authentically tell the ‘story of small town coal’.
This is a story that we aim to have on everyone’s screens. To understand our current political climate and the race against time as these communities will be left behind if an inclusive and environmentally conscious vision for small towns isn’t taken seriously. We need your help. We have a small team of 4 & your funding will go towards equipment costs, camera gear, transportation and all necessary essentials from Muswellbrook to the edit room.
Every dollar counts.
