On Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, Sławek Węglarz passed away. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and godfather. Everyone who knew Sławek was impacted by him in a very positive way as he was always joyful with everyone he met. 

In 2015 he had a bad accident at work and broke his spine which had caused him to be in much pain. After the accident he eventually had an 11 hour operation which was successful however pain was a constant companion. As an alternative to the pain medication Sławek had a procedure done to install a device that would help manage his pain with electric pulses. We thought that that his quality of life would be much improved, but then a serious infection forced the reversal of the procedure. Through all of this his spirits were high and he brought smiles to us all.

Now he is no longer here with us and in a better place looking down and happy. During all these years of recovery his life savings had gone to help cover the expenses and bills. We started this GoFundMe to help bring him home to Poland one last time before we say our final goodbyes. Any kind of donation is appreciated in lieu of flowers since we will only have a visitation here. We thank you all for the help so we can bring him back home to Poland.


The service for Sławek will be on July 9th from 1-5PM at Pietryka Funeral Home at 5734 W. Diversey Ave. Chicago, IL 60639.
