Hi my name is Sidney Swierenga. I am a 17-year-old cyclist from Vancouver. I’m looking for support to race the Bizkaikoloreak Nations Cup in Spain as well as several other European races this summer to get more experience at the highest level of Junior racing.

I started cycling at the age of 9 at the Burnaby Velodrome Club. From there I went on to try almost every discipline before I started focussing on road, but I still love all kinds of racing.

So far, I’ve had a great 2024 with TaG Race Team in North America and Team Canada in Europe. I competed in the Valley of the Sun stage race in Arizona and Redlands Bicycle Classic in California with TaG. I raced some local races in Belgium and Holland and then two Nations Cup Junior races in France and Holland. The Nations Cup series is raced by the world’s best Junior National teams. I surprised myself with a 5th place out of 155 of the best girls in the world at the Tour de Gevaudan in France. I was the best First Year Junior, meaning I got to wear the White Jersey for the Best Young Rider. Most recently, I won the Canadian Junior Time Trial Championship.

Racing in Canada is very limited and there aren’t many opportunities so I need to go to Europe to pursue my goals.
