Hi everyone,
I’m asking for help for my almost 6-year-old dog, Shylah. My best friend, my comfort, and truly the light of my life. She has been by my side through some of my darkest moments, and I can’t imagine my world without her.
What started as a plan to help Shylah with knee surgeries quickly turned into a life-changing emergency. On April 18, 2026, Shylah suddenly lost the ability to walk or feel her back legs. We rushed her to the ER, where she was diagnosed with Stage 5 IVDD and taken into emergency spinal surgery.
Right now, she has no deep pain sensation in her back legs, and we’ve been told there’s about a 50% chance she may walk again… and a possibility she may never regain full control of her body.
The surgery alone was incredibly expensive (far more than we were already preparing for) and this is just the beginning. Shylah will need ongoing care, physical therapy, and special equipment to give her the best chance at recovery and a good quality of life.
We are doing everything we can for her, but we can’t do it alone.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean more than I can put into words. And if you’re not in a position to give, simply sharing her story could truly make a difference.
Info About Our Original Post:
Before this happened, we had just learned that Shylah has CCL Disease in both knees (a painful condition that required two major surgeries). We had already begun preparing financially and emotionally for that journey.
We even made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding so we could prioritize her care. Despite that, the costs quickly became overwhelming and now, with this emergency surgery, it’s more than we ever imagined.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read Shylah’s story, for your kindness, and for any support you can give.
We will continue to update as she fights her way through recovery
