UPDATE 2020
I want thank all the generous donors who donated previously. because of your generosity I was able to pay
down my mortgage. although I only raised $2500 a generous donation from my 91 year old mother helped
significantly. However I need at least 50% equity in my home and am still 20,000 short.
So I am reaching out once again for new donors in hope of reaching my goal and being able to stay in my home.
THE ACCIDENT
On August 31, 2000, one day after I closed on my dream home, my life took an unfortunate turn that I never imagined would happen. I was involved in a car accident that left me paralyzed from the chest down. On my way to work on a rainy I stepped on the brakes to avoid hitting a car that cut in front of my car and my car skidded into oncoming traffic and was hit head on by another car. As a result I was paralyzed from the chest down becoming dependent on a power wheelchair and caregivers to perform all daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, performing bathroom functions, and preparation of meals. I need this assistance 7 days a week for several hours each day.
My brother took time off from his job, in Chicago, to be with me when I was released from National Rehabilitation Hospital, where I spent 3 months learning to be relatively independent.
Now, 18-years later I am 70-years old with no family in the area. However, I have been able to remain relatively
independent and in my home for all these years. It is my greatest desire to continue to stay in my home and
community, with my best friend, love of my life and emotional support dog Brandy. I have strong emotional ties
with my community, neighbors and friends. Many of my friends and neighbors assist me in multiple ways, especially when problems arise and caregivers have left for the day or aren’t able to come
This is why I am reaching out for help.
All of my savings have been exhausted and my limited retirement income will run out very soon.
It Is because of the rising cost of living, and a fixed income that I struggle to make ends meet. Consequently, I need your help to raise at least $20,000. These funds will help with daily expenses and let me pay down my existing mortgage so I can qualify for a reverse mortgage.
Once I get a reverse mortgage I will receive a small subsidy and be able to remain in my home. The subsidy will also provide daily expenses and enough funds to maintain my home.
Thank you for listening. Any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated.
God Bless you all.
Sheba Brimmer and Brandy
