On July 7th, 2017 Shawn, along with his fiancée's 3 young children - ages 1, 2 and 7 - were taken to intensive care after firefighters responded to a fire in their apartment where they found Shawn and the children unresponsive. The 4 suffered severe smoke inhalation; all three children succumbed to their conditions on Saturday, July 8th.
Shawn remains on life support battling for his life.
The week of ICU care to attempt to save Shawn will have a devastating financial effect on his family. We are raising funds to relieve this impact as much as possible.

The sad update we share today is that Shawn passed away Tuesday, July 18th, peacefully, at 6:06pm. Our Support Fund is now a Memorial fund. Our family is mourning the loss of this great, young man who so loved life, his family, and touched so many lives. The pain we are feeling with his loss is beyond words.
We are facing a very large amount of bills from Shawn’s time in the ICU and the generous outpouring of donations we have received will help so much. We are touched by everyone’s caring. We thank especially Sam’s coworkers, Mollie, Cindy, Mark, and Justin for their support.
Thank you again for all of the donations, outreach, and all the prayers. We cannot begin to communicate our appreciation.
