Blessings! My name is Elan and I'm fundraising money for my partner, Shane, to help pay for unexpected medical expenses and hospital bills.

Back in April, Shane started to feel some localized pain which he had expressed seemed a little abnormal, but we thought that maybe it was just one of those 'random pains' that goes away. However, by the next day he started feeling feverish at work and at one point laid under his desk to rest and try to deal with it. It was at that point that I highly encouraged him to head to urgent care to get checked out. That urgent care trip led to the ER, where he was admitted overnight. While he was there, he received a diagnosis (leaving out private details), however never really addressed the original pain he went in for. He got sent home and over the next couple days his pain continued to get worse with a whole list of terrible symptoms. We decided to go back to the ER and they admitted him immediately for an emergency surgery, keeping him in the hospital for almost a week this time.

Thankfully, the surgery went well and he's on the slow road to recovery!!

Shane is the type of person who cares deeply about the wellbeing of people (whether he personally knows them or not) and will go out of his way to help others in need. He pours his heart and soul into cultivating community, engaging and connecting deeply with people and is the true embodiment of love and kindness on all fronts. I would love for him to receive this gift in return for those who are able to contribute in any way.

I created this GoFundMe because I received several personal messages from loved ones asking how they can support us at this time, and this is it.

Unfortunately, Shane does not have medical coverage through work since he just started a new job at a startup company. At this point, we have no idea what will be covered, or what these bills will look like. On top of which, since it is a startup, he's not getting paid for all the time he's had/having to take off work. It could end up being several times more, however, I figured anything will help!
