My name is Shane Tambanivoul. Last year I was attending the Provo YSA 83rd Ward with Bishop Joseph Hanson. I am now attending the Provo YSA 79th Ward with Bishop Dee Oldroyd. I joined the LDS Church on 17 August 2014. I am currently studying at the BYU English Language Center. I have been preparing to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. I had planned on leaving in January 2016, but have recently learned that Church policy, in conjunction with the U.S. Government, (as it relates to student visas) doesn’t allow for me to serve until I have been a member for 2 years. This is because I am from Mauritius, a small island near Madagascar. Based on my student visa status, I am only allowed to work limited hours. My cousin’s ward in Washington has agreed to sponsor me for my 2-year mission. I must raise the remainder of Winter and Spring tuition to keep my visa status current and correct. The $3500 is what I need to finish school before serving my LDS mission in August 2016. I would be most grateful for any financial assistance in this matter.
