Seth's Second Round
Donation protected
Im Seth... most of who will see this through shares may already know my plight but for those that dont i'll fill you in a little... I was diagnosed with Leukemia (CML) in June 2012... after two very intense back to back rounds in the hospital (about a month each time) with a very aggressive case of Leukemia in a "blast crisis phase" (450,000 & 850,000 WBC count for you nurses) i was doing okay on maintenance chemotherapy pills for awhile... then well... they started to work a little too well on my body and messed my bone marrow up causing it to not be able to make its own platelets. (thats what keeps you from bleeding out when cut) Eventually after a few months they figured out that i needed a Bone Marrow Transplant or i would die.... I was living of the Grace of God and his children that Voluntarily donate blood and platelets... (Thanks to all who donate! You are my hero's)...... Just before that i had met my Daughters mother while she was 5 months pregnant and the biological father didnt want the child.... After all the chemotherapy (causes infertility) and prayer i knew that God was speaking to me to raise that child as my own... THIS WAS THE BEST DECISION IVE EVER MADE.... but anyways, we found out about my need of a transplant which was devastating and my daughter was due the week i was to initially start my transplant but the Lord made my blood levels good enough for the time being that they allowed me to spend 2 months with her before having to be in isolation for a month and in clinic for 100 days (5hrs 30min away from home in New Orleans) at Tulane Medical.
When i got back from all that, my daughter Seylor would sleep every night with her hand touching my face and i knew that she knew i was gone and didnt like it... So i promised her one night that i would never leave her like that again....
Unfortunately it's looking like daddy is going to have to break that promise...
Although i was cancer free for nearly a year post transplant.... In April i felt deathly ill and went to the ER to find that my blood levels with very off again... i knew it was back and was later confirmed by bone marrow biopsies.... Since then we've tried other chemotherapy treatments.... my Oncologist at Tulane ran a test and found a specific mutation in my DNA that hadnt been detected yet the past 3 years and treated it with a chemotherapy pill that specifically targeted this mutation.... for 10 weeks i was doing AMAZING.... i felt like the old me and then it just simply stopped working out of nowhere.... Running out of options, we tried another treatment involving injections of Synribo.... This was just around Dec 9th 2015 or so.... Unfortunately instead of helping... the first 3 injections sent me into another "BLAST CRISIS PHASE" or "Accelerated phase" and put me in ICU. It almost caused Renal failure but they flushed my kidneys with fluids. It also had me close to respiratory failure.... Since then i am once again living off the Grace of God and the Blood and Platelets of Volunteer donors.....
Ive expended most options for treatment and now it looks as if a second bone marrow transplant may be the only answer... My Oncologists are telling me i will need a second transplant.... in the meantime they are going to start an immune system boosting treament to try and prepare me for this.
Having gone through this before and having different family members take turns coming down to New Orleans to be my caretaker i know that its costly... and it has already been costly for them because of missed work, gas, and food and necessary medications of mine that arent covered by insurance.
Im the last person usually to ever ask for help but im once again at a point in my life where its time to set aside my pride and do whats best for my health, my daughter Seylor and the rest of my family.... So whatever you can spare... if nothing but a prayer... i will appreciate it all... Thank you
God Bless,
