Help us get our container to Kireka
For three years now we have been collecting items to support the development of young people in Uganda. We've so far raised £5,750 for the transport and duty costs and the container is now here in Uganda. Unexpected extra costs from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has meant that we are now short of money to send our container to its final resting place in a remote village area in Northern Uganda. The main issue has been a valuation of the items in the container, which has been higher than expected. We have negotiated with URA and they given us 7 days to find the money, or we will be charged £35 per day additional fees for storing the container.
The container contains, amongst other things:
1. A water pump, to pump up water from our bore hole
2. 150+ board games of all types
3. 27 laptops and a number of desktops and screens
4. DVD players and DVDs
5. A 5.5Kw generator
6. Farming tools
7. Carpentry tools
8. Equipment to set up a restaurant
9. A sound and lighting system for shows
10. Education books in several subjects
11. 2000+ children's reading books
12. Art materials
13. Sports kit and equipment for athletics
14. 100 school desks and 80 good quality plastic chairs
15. Good quality furniture - tables, armchairs and stools
16. Lego and Meccano
We are desperate to get this up to Koro, where we have a rural centre for children, so we can kickstart our activity programme this year and also help start some of the entrepreneurs that we have on our project in business, with the equipment that is there.
We are trying all sorts of avenues and are looking to find the money by Monday 12th June, which is our deadline.
Can you help us with our need?
