I recently qualified for the 2015 Boston Marathon, which has been my dream and goal. Due to one income in our household I'm looking and asking for financial help to pay for this trip.
I started running almost three years ago to help me get through anxiety and stress. Both of my parents also ran in the Boston Marathon in 1991. So when I qualified to run Boston, you can imagine how excited my parents were!
Your donations will be greatly appreciated. God Bless You.
Along with Audrey, I qualified for the 2015 Boston Marathon. I started running in November 2012, two months after my son was born, to get in shape and lose the “baby weight.” I realized how much I truly enjoy running — I hadn’t done it since my junior year of high school — and I began to set goals for myself and improve.
I wake up at 4:25 a.m., four days a week, to run before my kids wake up and before my husband goes to work. I am a work-from-home mom, an editor and reporter for The Madera Tribune. My favorite part of my job, other than being able to stay home with my children, is inspiring others through my weekly column, Mind Over Miles. I use my column to share my love of running and to encourage others live healthy, active lifestyles.
Qualifying for Boston was an amazing moment, one I’ll never forget. I hope, through your generous donations, that I’ll get to have another amazing moment — actually RUNNING the Boston Marathon!
Together we hope to raise funds to pay for our flight to Boston and our hotel stay. Any donation, even $1, will be greatly appreciated. Every little bit counts!
Audrey and Farin:
We believe strongly in participating in races that raise funds for worthy causes, such as The Wascally, which raises money to provide scholarships for foster children. We each ran more than 30 miles of a 135-mile relay in September from Bakersfield to Madera to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. RMH provides a place to stay and hot meals for families whose children are being treated in Children’s Hospital Central California.
We run for the love of running, and to help others. We would appreciate it if you could help US fulfill our dream of running in the Boston Marathon.
We both worked so hard to achieve this goal. We showed up to every training run, ran through injuries, and pushed our bodies to their limits to run 26.2 miles in 3 hours and 53 minutes and 3:29, respectively. Please don’t let our hard work go to waste — help us get to Boston! ☺
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, even if you are unable to donate. Your prayers and encouragement mean the world to us!
