Send Us to Sing - Rome Choral Festival 2019
Fiscaal aftrekbaar
Hello there. I am Judith Chan, a musician and Music Educator, and these shining hopeful faces are my celebrated 6th and 7th grade middle school choir at Beverly Vista.

Over the years, my students and I have worked tirelessly together to hone their vocal technique and develop their voices. For me, Music is a lifelong practice and I am passionate about providing Music education to my students both in musicianship skills as well as real life experience(s). Providing them with these experiences encourages them to build positive relationships and build strong bonds with each other.
Last Summer, our hard work paid off and our middle school choir was accepted into The Rome International Choral Festival where we will also have the opportunity to sing a capella at St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel of the Vatican for a once in a lifetime experience.
However, imagine my students disappointment when I told them we'd never be able to afford it, so we should just forget about it and try for something closer to home.
To my surprise they not only DID NOT accept this answer but also pushed back and asked me, But Ms. Chan, why can't we at least TRY to raise the funds?
There are many benefits and proven positive results of music education and music performance, including Better SAT scores, emotional development as well as success in society. Public performance also teaches them how to take risks and deal with fears.
Unfortunately, the support for keeping choral music and education alive in the national school system has dwindled and with that we’ve had to look outside of what the school provides to seek further opportunities for growth and enrichment.
During this trip we will also be performing at a local chapel that raises funds to feed the local homeless community. All proceeds from our performance(s) will be used by the chapel to continue their relief efforts to help the homeless. .....and this is where I need your help.
This is a rare and incredible opportunity for us, we have 23 students who would like to share in this experience. Plus, we have several teachers who are dedicated to furthering our children’s music education. While some are able to raise the funds on their own, there are others who cannot. We hope to raise funds for those who cannot, so no one will miss out on this once in a lifetime chance.
The cost for each student is approximately $3,800 each, which will be distributed among the students who cannot fully cover the cost of the trip. The funds will go toward air travel and lodging while we participate in vocal performances.
Our deadline is January 31st. We want to make this happen for everyone!....But we need your help.
If you could help us reach our dream in any way, you would be helping students achieve the opportunity of a lifetime!
Taking my students to participate in an international choral festival with other choirs and a conductor, allows them to learn a great deal of musicianship skills they normally won’t learn from just singing on their own in our school concert(s). Additionally, I believe that music affects us all and has the power to reach people on a deeper level than any type of verbalization can.
I thank you in advance for your consideration in helping us to provide learning and enrichment opportunities for our students.
The Beverly Vista PTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports the Choral program at Beverly Vista Middle School, so your donations are tax deductible. Our Tax ID # is 95-6203935
