LETS HELP MASTER SEIKOU KANEKO CONTINUE TO PRESERVE AND SPREAD THE THRIVING TRADITIONAL JAPANESE CULTURE & ARTS!
For those not familiar, Seikou Shodou is a Japanese calligraphy school taught by Seikou Kaneko, based in New York City.
Under these circumstances many of us students and helpers wanted to create a way to give back to Ms. Seikou. This fund was set up to help maintain the Shodou class management, and to kindly donate to provide some relief for her and her school.
Approaching the age of 99, master Seikou Kaneko has been educating and spreading the love and art of calligraphy for nearly 60 years, teaching for 23 years in her home Japan and now 37 here in the US. She has been dedicated to preserving and teaching the traditional Japanese arts of SHODOU (calligraphy) and BOKUGA (sumi ink drawing), and believes it is her life mission.
With the ongoing pandemic, and with personal and health setbacks, there are many challenges and struggles to keep her classes going at full capacity as before. She still continues to work daily, resuming classes remotely. as she is working harder than ever to keep teaching her passion.
Ms. Seikou’s main concern is pay for her helpers, who help her with her everyday tasks, and are also a backbone for her classes and the school.
The funds provided will be used to pay salaries, continue providing education, and fixed costs during the suspension period.
Any form of donation, or love, would be greatly appreciated.

現在も尚、新型コロナウイルスの蔓延が脅威をもたらしているニューヨーク州です。その様な中
我が恩師でもあり、書道の指導者でもある、静光先生はアメリカを中心に東洋の文化でもある書道を広めて行くために、クラスを続けております。ですが、高齢のため,クラス継続のためにはzoomクラスの切り替えや通信の為などのアシスタントの雇用など資金が必要な状態です。
現状は98歳という高齢の先生のお気遣いや距離を保つ為、又は各生徒様のご事情などで、生徒は以前の半分以下の状態です。書道を世界に普及する事が御自分の使命として全力を注いでいる静光先生の意思を理解し継続させてあげたいと願い、ここに生徒でもある私たちが勝手ながらドネーションサイトを立ち上げさせて頂きました。この様な事態の中、皆様も大変な状況と思いますが、どうぞご理解頂けたらと思います。
