Everything started with Samantha getting diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of 13. Since then she has been through several complications, including. Pancreatitis, which leads to failure of the organ, vision loss, and gastroparesis which causes horrible pain and nonstop nausea. worst of all it has caused massive kidney failure. which has now caused her to be on PD Dialysis every day and a very large list of medications. The only remedy for these problems is a transplant.
Samantha has been hard at work every day to make it to the transplant list. The pain and treatments are nonstop. even though she is doing her treatments there are still a lot of issues that come with diabetes and her pancreas not working now that it has been said to have less than one percent function. I've never met anyone who is just trying and trying to have one normal day more than her. It's heartbreaking to watch and worse to think that this is just the way things should be.
Samantha is a married woman, an extremely proud aunt and a stepmother of two amazing kids. She has never stopped trying to be the best person that she can be, always there to listen to friends and family when they need to talk. Or just make someone smile. She is dedicated to her home and her two kittens Kirby and Seven. A very hard worker has traveled for work and done an amazing job taking care of the crew around her always making sure that they were safe and respected. Most of all she is my best friend and the best partner I could have ever asked for. She's tuff and loyal to a fault. sadly things never seem to go her way medically.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. She has been cleared for a transplant, but it is also incredibly expensive. this is a full game changer for her a new kidney and pancreas will give her years of good health and a chance at a more manageable life. the downside is that during her come up she has not been able to work. It is just Samantha and I who reside in Florida and many of our friends and family are far away in other states and it is often just us two. She has many things that she will need help with financially. Her home (rent & utilities), her pets, the cost of food, travel, hotel lodging and much more. The travel and hotel expenses will be the most because our transplant hospital is located in Gainsville, FL which is 7 hours from our home. For the first month and a half, Samantha will need to stay in Gainsville so the doctors can keep track of and manage her recovery.
I just want to help find a way to relieve some of the strain Samantha feels day to day and I feel this is a great start. I am asking all of you for your help, love and support as well. If we join this fight together, we can help give Samantha that 2nd chance at life!!
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and I hope that you can help us in any way. Thank you so much and God bless you all!!
