On Aug 13th Sean had some routine lab work done that came back very alarming. That afternoon Jerry and Jesi took him to Children's for more testing, and he was admitted. Over the next three days he underwent more testing and a bone marrow aspiration. The doctor told Jerry and Jesi he thought Sean had leukemia. Test results came back and it was not leukemia, but he thought it could be Aplastic Anemia. They sent them home. Since that day, Sean goes in every Monday and Thursday for labs, doctor visits, and transfusions when necessary. Jane and Claire were not a match for a bone marrow transplant, so he will begin immunosuppressive therapy (ATG) at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. The clinical trial he will be enrolled in gives him a 80-90% chance of recovery vs the 70% if he were to stay in San Diego. Please continue to pray that this works!
