Two dear friends of ours were in an accident last night on their way to meet us at the Viewpoint on Springwater.
Jeff got me safely home lickety split when we heard and I had to go see with my own two eyes they were okay.
Turns out a car pulled out in front of them and then left the scene. Nice right? Leaving our friends bleeding and in need of help...
The husband, laying in ICU, describes the feeling of seeing his wife laying on the payment near unconsciousness, bleeding from somewhere besides the obvious gash on her face, road rash all over and her arm at a noticeably unusual angle. He definately took the worst of it, but being the person he is he was more worried about his Love...awwww
All I could think of is how Jeff would be thinking the same thing. He might be more messed up than me, but he would be consumed with making sure I was alright.
They both will be fine. Between the two of them they have a broken elbow, three broken ribs, a broken clavical, a damaged vertebrae, compromised lung, possible bowel bruise, quite a few stitches and LOTS of road rash. Both will be in the hospital a little while longer (never know how long until they discharge you)
It will be months before they ride again. I have no doubt they will ride again although the initial response was "never again".
Thanks for whomever stopped to help them!! Got the ambulance, ultimately life flight and took care of our friends. They are in good hands at OHSU and when he is feeling better I know Jeffrey H. Dahl will help him get the bike from the storage yard to latus collision and figure out a plan (of course the second concern wasn't for himself, it was his Harley...)
