Emily (Scott's sister) and Kelly (Scott's friend and boss) here! Scott is one of the most giving, GOOFY, thoughtful, loyal, and hard-working people we know. He's given to so many - and right now, he needs our help (even if he won't say it).
Scott was taking a hot pot roast to a co-worker for dinner. As he went to get the crockpot out of the car, his grip slipped and the spilled the entire roast over his midsection, legs, and left foot - burning 10% of his body. Yes, his ENTIRE midsection. He was immediately taken to the local hospital in Lawrence and then had to be taken to the Burn Unit at KU Med in Kansas City.
After a couple of days, he was released to come home and has now started the recovery process, which is looking good (yay!!) - but will be SLOW and painful.
Many of you have asked how you can give back to Scottie at this crazy time, and this is a big way! It's unclear when he'll get back on his feet and back to work, and, unfortunately, he is going through all of this uninsured. So any amount you can donate will be incredibly helpful to cover the inevitable bills to come.
In advance, thank you for your support and love for Scott. The outpouring of food, texts, get well balloons, etc. has been AMAZING. Scottie isn't one to be speechless (believe us), but he has been this week because folks like you. We appreciate it - and we know Scott does too!
PLUS...Knowing Scott, there might be some cold brew in your future!
PLUS PLUS...Medicare for All :)
