History Boys RFC's #Scotsman2Scotsman Challenge

The #Scotsman2Scotsman Challenge
Over the course of 3 weeks between the 19th October and the 9th November, the playing members of History Boys RFC are going to be attempting to virtually travel the 2675km between the Scotsman Steps in Edinburgh and the Scotsman Pub in St Julian's, Malta to raise vital funds for the club and LooseHeadz- a charity looking to #TackleTheStigma surrounding mental health in rugby.
Why Now?
After a fantastic start to the season, with record numbers of freshers and returning members, we were obviously devastated to be told that the return to rugby had been delayed. We fully understand that the safety of our members and our community are of the utmost importance, but want to use this break as an opportunity to complete a mammoth challenge. With our usual channels of funding affected by ongoing uncertainty in the hospitality sector, we are crowdfunding for the first time to ensure the club continues to be an outlet for everyone to play the game they love, socialise with friends and meet new people.
Why Malta?
History Boys RFC are celebrating their 10th Anniversary this season. Initially started by a small group of friends, the club has gone from strength to strength. A highlight for the club was its overseas Malta Tour in 2018, which saw 32 players representing the History Boys abroad- creating memories for life, a few of which were undoubtedly made in the Scotsman Pub. For us, Malta represented everything that is great about rugby; the game, the friendships and the experiences that can bind a playing community together.
Why LooseHeadz?
LooseHeadz are a fantastic charity whose values form the foundation of what we aspire to be as a club- grounded in its community, where players feel safe and comfortable to talk about and move towards better mental wellbeing. They understand that there are barriers to progress and are working hard with their ambassadors to find new and innovative ways to break these down. Proceeds raised as a result of the #S2S Challenge will be split evenly between History Boys RFC and LooseHeadz. We would be sincerely thankful for anything you may be able to spare in these challenging times, and look forward to updating you with the progress of our challenge.
