Scholarships for Gaza University
Dear Friends,
Many talented Palestinian students will miss college without scholarships. That is why we urgently appeal to you for help. Our target, $50,000 means 10 students' can complete full degree programs, or 50 students study for a year, or 500 to finish a semester. Since 2007, Gaza University has been the beacon of liberal education in Gaza. It's over 5000 graduates form a new generation of leaders.
Offering a quality liberal, secular education is a challenge when your state is under siege. But Gaza University is committed to make liberal education accessible and affordable. When classrooms were destroyed in the 2014 war, students and faculty rebuilt them. As soon as the bombing ended, classes resumed.
Now COVID19 has come to Gaza. Along with the siege, we are now under severe quarantine and lockdown. As a result, Gaza University is 50% short in its operating budget. Students simply cannot afford to pay fees, which is GU’s main source of income .
Our students still want to learn. Our Professors still want to teach. GU refuses to let this crisis destroy the promise of this generation. They deserve their chance to learn. GU is offering you a way to invest in the future represented by this generation of young people.
-Your $600 will send a student back for a whole semester.
-Your $1200 will see a student complete another year toward their degree.
-Your $4800 will educate one student through an entire 4 year undergraduate degree.
The young people of Gaza will repay you by their firm commitment to build a better, more peaceful place. Sometimes they feel as if the world has forgotten them. With the siege and COVID19 lockdown and an uncertain future, they need someone to believe in them more than they dare to believe in themselves. We believe that person is YOU. We cannot do this without you.
