Family Tragedy

My childhood friend, Ashley, and her family are going through, what seems like, an impossible tragedy. Ashley's estranged husband crashed his truck into her parents' home Wednesday evening, where she was staying with her two children. He then fatally shot her dad in front of their son before turning the gun on himself outside of the home. 

Ashley's dad, Gene, was the rock of the family. He was so loved and had a larger than life personality. Gene was incredibly hardworking, protective of his loved ones, the person anyone could turn to for advice in times of need, all while being the life of the party. Gene would do anything for his family and displayed that in his final moments. 

The community has rallied around the family by helping with immediate needs. These selfless actions have brought so much comfort to them during this time. Naturally, returning to the home where this tragedy took place, or the home that Ashley and the children shared with their father may be challenging. The goal of this GoFundMe is to assist in raising money to provide a comfortable place for the family to live for 6-12 months. With the holidays right around the corner, our hope is for Ashley and her family to not worry about where they will live while they spend this time grieving and begin healing.
