My brother, Doug who is only 47 years old suffered from a heart attack in his home on Sunday night/Monday morning. He was unresponsive and had no heartbeat. The paramedics worked hard performing CPR on Doug and were able to gain a pulse and get Doug breathing again by the time he got to the emergency room. Doug went immediately into surgery for his heart. They were able to put a stent in and clear the blockage in his heart. However, due to the amount of time he was unconscious they are very worried about his brain activity. They have implemented the hypothermia protocol to try and protect his brain from damage. This is a very long and stressful process for the family as it is literally a waiting game. After a few hours Doug's body tempertaure had reached the temperature the doctors were wanting. He will stay at that temperature for 24 LONG hours. After the 24 hours the medical team will begin warming his body which can take up to 8 hours. After Doug has warmed we will wait for him to wake up. This is when we will know what the next plan of action is. We are praying hard that Doug suffered no brain trauma from the heart attack. It is the most critical 24-72 hours for Doug and his family as well.
Doug is the hardest working man I know. He has such a loving heart and is always there to help and support everyone he knows and even those he does not know personally. His wife Lisa stays at home full time as Doug believed in 150% fully taking care of his family and supporting them. Lisa and Doug have 3 children; Anthony who is currently serving the United States Military as a US Marine, Victoria a sophomore in college and Olivia a Sophomore in High School. Doug loves his family more than life itself. Unfortunately Doug works in construction and does not receive an income when he is not working. He has worked very hard over the years to provide the best life he possibly can for his family. After suffering a heart attack, Doug will not be able to work for months. His wife Lisa will have to find ways to continue paying all of their bills, their mortgage, car payment and now medical bills for his extensive stay in the hospital. I, Kimberly Bezek, Lisa's sister want to try and take some of the worry and financial strain off of the family. We all know that having finances sit in the back of your head prevents you from fully 100% being available to your family. If Lisa is able to have one less thing to worry about it will help give her the opportunity to focus on her husband and her family. So please help me in raising money for this ever giving and amazing family. They need all the love and support they can receive in this time of need.
