The Scent of her soul short film

Every girl is unique. Every girl is loved. Every girl needs a hero. That is the central message in the short film about the sex-trafficking industry that my husband and myself are making.

My name is Natasha Sapienza. Me and my husband, Jonathan, are currently in production for a thirty-minute short-film about the sex-trafficking industry. The story is an adaptation of a powerful novel written by author, Bryan Davis. The plot: A vigilante father uses a unique ability to find and rescue sex-trafficking victims, all the while hoping he finds his own missing daughter.

Mike, the father, knows first-hand what it's like to have a child kidnapped and dragged into the human-trafficking industry. After suffering an injury that renders him helpless to rescue his daughter from a kidnapper, Mike awakens with a special gift: he is able to detect the scent of a girl's soul.

Armed with this gift, he sets out on quest after quest to rescue missing girls across the country, hoping to gain clues about his own daughter along the way.

We really believe in this inspirational and beautiful story, and know it will impact audiences and can put a dent in the dark world of human-trafficking. We plan on multiple showings in 2016, and 100% of the proceeds from local showings will go to ministries whose primary focus is to rescue and restore trafficking victims.

We are set to continue filming and wrapping the shoot by February 1st, but we've run out of the funds necessary to complete the project.

Not many people enjoy watching documentaries. The realities they present are often hard to face. But as filmmakers and writers, we know that a story like ours, with an element of fantasy and entertaining action, our audience will lower their defenses and thus be more open to the message we're delivering. Although the characters are fictional, the truth about how many girls are dragged into the industry and the horrors they endure are not.

We are very hopeful that this story will grip the hearts of many, open their eyes to the atrocity of sex-trafficking, and inspire them to take action, whether it be by supporting ministries who are fighting for these precious girls, volunteering, or being a voice in their community.

May Love continue to prevail over the darkness of the sex-trafficking industry.

Blessings,

Natasha Sapienza
