We were scammed for $177,023 with AI Crypto scam

Hi, my name is Victoria and I am seeking help for my disabled husband, Doug, who was scammed out of our entire Line of Credit in two short months, in a AI cryptocurrency fraud scam. He is normally a positive soul, who never has a negative thing to say about anyone but seeing his spirit broken is heartbreaking.

We clicked on a misleading, social media ad, (claiming to be Elon Musk's new Quantum AI Trading Platform), that used AI technology to show Elon Musk promoting a financial venture to lure unsuspecting people into investing in a financial scam. (Who knew that such technology even existed?....until now)

My husband is a kind, caring, honest man, so he is very trusting of people and these scammers used his vulnerability to reel him in. He took the bait!

His reason for falling for this "get rich quick" scam was nobel. He was hoping to increase our finances to be able to build our own forever home, so we wouldn't have to eventually go into an assisted living situation and could live there happily ever after.

The scammer was a very smooth operator and called multiple times everyday and got to know my husband's vulnerabilities and used this knowledge to manipulate him and gain his trust. On top of all of that, Doug is not very tech savvy so he fell for the "Anydesk" trick of allowing the scammer full access to his laptop. Never again!

My husband was injured in a motorcycle crash in 1972 when he was only 20 years old and was the back passenger when the crash happened. He was left for dead by the driver, with severe head trauma and multiple bone fractures, including both femurs. He spent 6 months in the hospital, in a body cast, with a steel plate in his head and permanent paralysis on his left side and had to learn to walk all over again. He is lucky to be alive and although it's getting more difficult to get around, with age, was hoping to live out the rest of his life, as happy and healthy as possible. Now that dream is gone and is replaced with heartache and stress about what our future will be like, trying to pay back nearly $180,000, plus interest, with our little pensions. We have had many sleepless nights, worrying about going bankrupt.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere to turn for help and it seems hopeless that any of the stolen funds will ever be recovered. We have reported the crime to our local police in Ottawa, the RCMP Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre - Fraud Reporting System, Scotiabank Fraud Investigations, Equifax, TransUnion etc. but we are losing faith in the system which doesn't seem to care or be equipped to even do an investigation.

If only we had known sooner and been warned that such misleading advertising was allowed out there, we surely would have protected ourselves from these pathetic scammers.

Please stay vigilant and protect yourselves and each other so that others don't have to suffer through this heartache. Nobody deserves to have this happen to them. It is truly devastating, especially for us senior citizens. We were robbed of our "Happily Ever After". Don't let this happen to your loved ones, please!

Here is us at a much happier time of our lives. My husband will always be my prince, no matter what!
Thank you for listening and sharing. I have faith that our story can help some other potential victim out there.
